On March 28th, All Grown Up had the pleasure to witness timeless beauty Roxanne marry her handsome groom Ben at The Old England Hotel & Spa, Bowness on Windermere.
With a stunning location on the water front, The Old England was the perfect setting for these two love birds to join together in marriage. Many moons ago, the love struck couple came to The Lakes for their first weekend break together. It had such a special significance that Ben chose to bring Roxanne back in 2013. The great british weather put a dampener on Ben's plans but with the help of a trusted umbrella and a sturdy disposition, he got down on one knee and proposed. Here, Roxanne agreed to marry Ben, soggy knee and all. It as only right that they chose to bring their beloved family and friends to this special place, to celebrate their marriage together.
Madeleine from All Grown Up had the pleasure to work with Roxanne and Ben throughout the planning and preparation process of their wedding and had the great honour to dress the venue on the day of their wedding. From the beginning, the couple had a strong vision how they wanted their day to look. They knew they wanted a real vintage affair with a homemade twist. Utilising the skills of friends and family and wedding suppliers, Roxanne and Ben were able to create a style that reflected their personalities.
Madeleine worked closely with Roxanne, her hugely talented mum Maureen and wonderful bridesmaids to design and make the invitations which included a handmade lino printed illustration in each and hand cut bunting.
Luxury pocket squares for the Groom and groomsmen were designed and handmade by Madeleine, using vintage fabrics. These are available to buy here. (Custom orders available)
The tables were decorated with Bombay Sapphire bottles, luxury decorated jars, vintage teacups and sunday glasses with pillar candles. Stunning florals for the tables and ceremony were provided by Collins The Florist. Madeleine decorated the venue with personalised bunting, vintage suitcases, empty frames, glassware, teapots, books and a plethora of hearts, the symbol of love, in different materials. Vintage crockery packed with gypsophilia and pink roses were scattered throughout whilst the Bombay Sapphire bottles stood tall and proud containing stems of wild flowers.
The beautiful bouquets and button holes were hand crafted by the brides mother Maureen from silk flowers interspersed with vintage broaches. Using silk flowers meant the bridal party were all able to take their floral wonders home and keep forever as a wonderful memory of the day.
Gin & Tonic cupcakes and the stunning 3 tier wedding cake was made by Julie's Cakes - Cumbria. A sweet miniature version of Roxanne, Ben and their feline Scholsey was added to the cake, handmade by Kate from Love on Top.
Manchester artist Luke Finn, painted a beautiful portrait of the couple, for the guests to add their own little thumbprint to as a memory of the day. Something that the happy couple can treasure forever.
This wedding was a vision of true vintage beauty on the shores of the breathtaking Lake Windermere. A day that will stay in the hearts of Roxanne and Ben's family and friends forever.
